Star Blue Soldier
Killian Kilkenny, a red-bearded trapper, blessed by the sky gods, becomes an immortal Star Blue, who, as a soldier mutates while fighting evil.
Star Blue Soldier is a science fantasy novel. The spiritual beliefs of the Indian Nation are entwined with American history and the CIA. In 1860, Killian Kilkenny, a 28-year-old man, is trapping beaver in New Mexico. He encounters a Navajo Indian who, in reality, is an alien. They fight and both shed blood. Killian is badly wounded, but kills the Indian, whose bluish blood flows into Killian’s eyes and mouth. Suddenly, the alien Indian bursts into fire, and then there’s a bright flash of blue light followed by a blue-white ribbon of smoke, which rises into the sky. The body of the alien Indian disappears. Killian becomes ill from the contact with the bluish blood. He passes out. Hours later when he awakes, he is a soldier in the Army’s 1st Cavalry. He has no idea how this has happened. Over the next few weeks, he’s bewildered to learn he’s able to transform into any human form, and is practically immortal. During warfare Killian learns he can’t be killed by gunfire, swords, knives, or any other devices, as his wounds begin to heal in a matter of minutes.
Later, from an Indian medicine man, Killian learns he’s become a Star Blue, who can only be killed by fire. For the next one hundred years as a soldier, he fights in numerous wars for his country, and against his one main nemesis, Lupan, a Navajo Indian who is an evil Blue Warrior.
Lupan and the other Blue Warriors hate the whites for what they have done to their people, and seek to kill them. Killian and Lupan become archenemies and are intent on setting each other on fire, thus sending their foe to his death.
