Tia is a southwestern girl transplanted into the East coast art world by the ambitions of her painter husband. Although she is disturbed by the high society art world, she supports his efforts to succeed, all the while trying to stay focused on her grassroots endeavors to help struggling artists. On the wake of his first solo show, she is offered an opportunity to further her own ambitions and must face her demons and desires to make a life-changing decision.

Throughout the narrative, a somewhat pedantic but cheeky narrator offers various possibilities for Tia's life story, compelling the reader to consider who Tia really is and what she should do to remain true to herself.

Portraits is karen p fuzzy's third novel, written under the influence of the NaNoWriMo jumpstart, much coffee and the entertainment of the shifting New Mexico skies.
