How could something as simple as a butter knife have the power to change his life forever?

16 year old Dan Harman is an avid rock climbing enthusiast. Adventure constantly courses through his veins as he is perpetually in search of his next new exploit. Imagine Dan's surprise when he finds it at the end of an antique butter knife with time traveling properties. As Dan is transported back and forth in time exposing him to Tennessee's rich Civil War history and buried treasure, Dan and his two best friends, Jesse and Ritchie, concoct a way to get rich off of Dan's time travels in hopes of making their wildest rock climbing dreams come true.

Written with humor, energy, and insight about the way teen boys' heads work, Glint will engage even the most reluctant of readers, and definitely anyone who loves a good story.

About JD Harper (Chattanooga, Tennessee Author)

JD Harper

Hi, I’m JD Harper. My passion for literacy inspired me to write GLINT, an action adventure book set in Chattanooga and surrounding areas capturing some of Tennessee's rich history and its myriad of outdoor activities.

To give you a little background about how Glint came to be, when my son was younger I noticed that he didn't appear to enjoy reading as much as I hoped he would or how I did when I was younger. Determined to get the reading fire lit in my son, I proposed to him that we make up our own stories. He was agreeable. Our model: I would give him a prompt, and we would weave our verbal stories whenever we were in the car. Sometimes he would write them in a journal that we carried in the car, but most often he did not. Glint grew from one of the prompts we had when he was in 5th grade. What was that prompt? Well, you will have to read GLINT to find out, but I can tell you it involves a very special silver butter knife.

My goal for Glint is that people in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas would read and enjoy it so much that they would then share it with friends and our community.

Knowledge is power and learning can still be fun!

Cheers, JD
